Boho Weddings Feature

‘We knew we wanted to get married in France, but to secure a date for 2022 we had to decide quickly – it was peak Covid (late 2020) and so many weddings were being postponed. At the time we weren’t allowed to travel and within France travel was restricted regionally, so we decided to pick a venue close to Xavier’s parents so they were able to view it on our behalf. It was an easy decision, we all fell in love with Sarah and George (the owners) just has much as Château de Brives. We didn’t view the venue ourselves until 9 months before the wedding. We had 100 guests and it took 18 months to plan.

Advice for other couples?
Take a step back just the two of you to absorb it all, we did this but I wish we’d done it more, the day flies by at double speed! Make sure the wedding party know what they are doing, I gave everyone a weekend plan to avoid being asked questions all weekend. Get yourself a good planner, Josh Tully Management was worth EVERY SINGLE PENNY.”

Style Me Pretty Feature

We were thrilled to be featured on the front page of the iconic Style My Pretty from a wedding we curated in the UK.

“Today's gorgeous Cotswolds wedding is nothing short of a fairytale. The idyllic English village of Castle Combe is frequently used as a film location, and after seeing the full gallery from Anneli Marinovich Photography - it's easy to see why! Josh Tully Management alongside Flowers By Passion brought the bride and groom's timeless wedding day to life with each thoughtful detail and delicate petal. To say we're obsessed would be a major understatement, read on for more...”

”From Anneli Marinovich Photography... Alice & Kelston's fairytale English wedding was set in Castle Combe - named one of the prettiest villages in England. Often used as a film location, the village is known for it's picturesque church and chocolate box honey coloured Cotswold stone houses. The Manor House, their wedding reception venue, was walking distance from the village church, making it the perfect setting for their black-tie wedding celebration.”

“Alice chose two gowns for her special day - a floaty Sassi Holford gown for the daytime and a figure-hugging Pronovias party gown for the evening party. Her pearl-adorned Jimmy Choo heels and delicate Star crown added a contemporary feel to her bridal style.”

Introducing Le Grand Banc.

After hanging up from my first phone call with Cosmo the owner of a private hamlet in the heart of Luberon, Provence- I just knew this was a venue I needed to be involved in.

Due to Covid I had to sit tight until the first window of opportunity came up that I could visit the venue for myself. Leading up to the trip I had immersed myself in all I could find online and the excitement grew. Reading articles on Vogue, Harpers Bazaar & Style Me Pretty seeing names of guests such as Princess Margaret, John Malkovich, Jasper Conran, Alexa change and so many more were being dropped in left right and centre.

I drove for 6 hours from Cognac in the height of the summer, I meandered through Provencal villages in complete awe of the landscape surrounding me and my fiat 500. The roads got smaller and steeper, before I knew it, I had arrived at the very discreet entrance to the hamlet which can’t be seen from the road – upon arrival I just couldn’t wait to see what this place had to offer. I was greeted with chilled rose and a charcuterie platter in one of two dining rooms, this was the one with the walls adorned with Andy Warhols. I sat for 20 minutes trying to just breath and holding myself back from the want to run around and see everything as quickly as possible.

I was then taken on the tour by the very lovely property guardians, and was guided through the winding streets visiting the individual stone houses that make up the village and genuinely I couldn’t stop taking pictures, around every corner I was using the words – ‘wow’ ‘I love it’ ‘Hang on, I just need to take a picture’

Each room is so unique, but there is feel of history and style everywhere you look, it reminded me of a Tom Ford directed movie with effortless style and exquisite detail with an edge.

After exploring the houses, I was sold. I was then taken through the main house out towards the outdoor pool, I walked through a lavender lined path and just stood there for a minute taking in what I was looking at – the view ……I have no words. I had seen a picture but in person its really breath-taking, I couldn’t quite believe how far I could see and just how the landscaped seemed to go on forever. The stone statues casually dotted around the pool, the sunken sofa area which doubles up as an outdoor bar, the perfectly trimmed tree line to ensure the view is completely undisturbed and then on top of all of this the silence, I really felt like I was stood at the highest point of the region.

After the tour, I decided to cool off in the pool and sat with another glass of rose (I mean its Provence, it would be rude not too). My brain was brimming with ideas, I couldn’t stop thinking of how I would use the space – every area is perfect. The one thing that I could picture was the whole hamlet full of friends and family in the build up to the wedding, everyone running through the streets going from house to house looking for a comb, or the flower girl.

I sat with my friend that evening, taking in every second of the incredible sunset and said ‘I really hope I can work with this venue, I can’t wait to share it with the world’ and here I am two months on talking about launching it as a wedding venue where my company offers the planning solution!

The plan is simple – tell the story and create some truly magical moments at what is a truly special place. I stayed for just 24 hours and left feeling as though I had been there for weeks – it truly felt like a home away from home.

During lockdown I decided Josh Tully Management would focus on partnering with unique venues in unique locations – so here we are, introducing Le Grand Banc.

Style tip.

The colours are muted and the stone walls create the perfect back drop. I imagine wild florals, wispy and seasonal. Textured candle holders and vases, ceramics and vintage glass. I intend to keep it simple but beautiful, the venue really gives style in an abundance.

A TRULY CULTURED WEDDING VENUE - CHATEAU DE BRIVES

Chateau de Brives is steeped in history, linking the property directly with the local town of Cognac through its heritage. The Chateau was previously owned by M Dupuy d’Angeac, of one of the largest Cognac houses – Otard Dupuy. It was Dupuy who commissioned an architect to design the old coach house, and an architect who was particularly well travelled for someone in 1823. The architect took inspiration from his travels in Italy, something you can see in the coloured wall of the buildings, and of which is one of the many things that sets Chateau de Brives apart from other French chateau venues. The extravagant windows reflect the symmetry of the main chateau and where you will find the pool now was the original turning circle for the carriage.

It was this history and heritage that formed the story behind our most recent styled shoot at Chateau de Brives. The colours simply cannot be ignored, which is why we incorporated these into both the tablescape and across the whole venue to keep consistency as a new look for the venue to promote to its clients. We wanted to show clients to not be afraid of using colour, especially when the backdrop is as unique as this one.

The owners of the property have the most beautiful collection of antiques and props, which from a wedding planning point of view is the dream. We wanted to utilise this on the shoot, so we used an old dresser as the bar, as well as antique vases, candle holders and signage which are made from antique French bed heads. When planning a wedding we always look at mixing materials – stone, wood, linen and generally a good range of textures. This is something we did with this shoot, the lighter white-washed wooden tables are the perfect shade and style to complement most colour palettes, and the metal frame chairs give it that extra layer of interest.

The concept behind any shoot we do is to always best represent the venue and to help the potential clients seeing the images to imagine the space being filled with their loved ones.

The dining table was really the winning image due to the perfectly symmetrical coach house, which sits behind the terrace where the wedding breakfast would take place. We took the colours from the walls such as the soft burgundy, orange and pale pinks, and the darker tones worked really well because of the lightness of the wooden tables. The overall image with the festoon lighting surrounding the terrace transported us to somewhere in Italy or Spain, and as the sun was setting, the whole venue came to life with a soft golden glow.

On the day, there was a warmth from the design. When going bold on colours, you run the risk of taking a summer wedding into an autumnal colour way but the light tones surrounding the tables kept it fresh and bringing in yellow to the flowers kept it seasonal.

There is even a natural stage for speeches situated perfectly behind the tables, so we added lanterns to the steps and it looked magical. The venue is made up of so many different spaces that can be used. There is a local church for the service but we wanted to utilise the woodlands for a more rustic ceremony – we kept it simple though, as trees add so much natural texture and greenery to the backdrop. Imagining the bridal party walking across the lawns to the space where they become wed is a magical vision, especially paired with live music.

With all the work we do with venues, we try to utilise the entire property, taking guests on a real journey from start to finish but keeping the style consistent throughout. We feel incredibly lucky to work with this venue as a planning partner, purely because there is so much scope with how the venue can be used. For us, we always look for unique venues in unique locations and Chateau de Brives is just that.
